THE COSTA DEL SOL

To my mind, and yes I do live here, the Costa del Sol is one of the most beautiful places in Europe.

And yes I am including the coast. The Costa del Sol has a vibrancy and way of life not found in many places in the world. The coast is a fantastic place to go and play. The beaches, restaurants, night life its all there.

Away from the coast and things change. Just 10 minutes in land takes you to another place all together. Where life is still generally lived at a slow pace and you have time to enjoy the fantastic scenary and wonderful people.

The Costa del Sol

There are many reasons people choose to visit or live in Southern Spain and specifically the area surrounding Marbella. We hear idyllic descriptions of picturesque white villages, barbequed beach food, and borgonvilia cascading down whitewashed walls like a waterfall of crimson.

Yes, it is possible to find tradition, culture and beauty but we also want you to know that the Costa del Sol is modern, vibrant, cosmopolitan and busy. While many holiday destinations all but close during the winter months Marbella offers excitement all year round.

One of the most charming aspects of living on the Costa del Sol is its ability to surprise and delight. One can emerge after dinner from a cobbled side street in Marbella’s old town to be confronted by a spine tingling performance of outdoor opera. Or wander the beach and come upon a churringito where pot bellied pigs and goats snuffle the sand.

The Spanish tradition of celebration means that a special event is never far away; whether it be children dancing flamenco in a village square, the Three Kings showering the streets with Christmas sweets or the infamous local fair where everyone takes to the streets and drinks for Spain. The lively sociable spirit of the Spanish guarantees a warm welcome to all, visitors and locals alike.

It takes time to get to know and love a place and the Costa del Sol will not disappoint. Many people visit year after year before opting to buy their own place in the sun.

Regular flights to and from Malaga from all over Europe mean that the Costa Del Sol is easily accessible and only a few hours away for most visitors. For those of us who live here there is security in the fact that family and friends are well within reach.

The Costa del Sol is for many the favourite part of Spain. Situated in Andalucia (the real Spain) it stretches from Gibraltar to Malaga. It has a very wide range of amenities and different landscapes. There are a string of international resorts including glamorous Marbella and Puerto Banús and typical whitewashed Spanish villages to be found dotted everywhere.

Below we have made a small list of reasons why people have chosen to buy here;

The Climate

It has to be said its the the best! With 350 days of sunshine a year and therefore popular with holiday makers who will rent your property at high prices in the months you don't want to use it yourself. And if you are looking for an investment then why not let your property for long term. There is a ´rental department´ which will look after all aspects of letting your apartment long or short term.

The Infrastructure

The infrastructure is better then most other places in Spain. There are daily flights from U.K. to both Malaga- and Gibraltar Airport from where you can take either the coastal road or toll road to most urbanisations on the coast in less then 20 minutes. There are international flights from Malaga Airport to other parts of Spain but even Madrid is only a 5 hours drive by car. So if the regions mentioned above attract you for a holiday or weekend there is nothing to stop you visiting them, while the sunshine is waiting for when you return.

The Language

The language barrier is not a problem as many people here speak English. Also there are numerous language schools to choose from should you decide to learn the language.

Employment

If you are looking to move down on a permanent basis then finding a job should not be a problem. Most employers are looking for people speaking English and Spanish. German is often an advantage. If you are looking for work then you have a good chance finding one in the 'Sur in English' which is a free newspaper available at your local kiosk, paper shop or petrol station and comes out every Friday. There is even a copy of this newspaper in German.

Medical Services

The medical service here is excellent with various (private) hospitals to choose from, as well as clinics with doctors from all over Europe, dentists, pharmacies etc.

Golf!

There are so many things to do. Amusement parks, water parks, museums, exhibitions and sports clubs. Especially if you enjoy playing golf then this should be a paradise for you as the coasts second name is 'Costa del Golf'.

There is something for everyone, and you will find a detailed list of sports clubs and other amenities on our website.
